Tip Jar Snatched

A restaurant in the 1100 block of Lake Street reported that around 9:50 p.m., a man entered the restaurant and removed the tip jar from the counter. He then ran out of the store and into a silver 1996 Honda sedan, which was last seen headed north on Harlem. The estimated loss was $12.

Criminal Trespass

Jennifer E. Pine, 34, of the 4100 block of west 24th Place in Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to a building in the 400 block of south Oak Park Avenue around 6:16 p.m. Pine was later released on bond.

Man Tries to Enter Car While Owner Still Inside

Dean Hollis Feley, 18, of the 700 block of north Kenilworth, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 400 block of Chicago around 3:33 a.m. when he attempted to enter a resident's car while the resident was still inside. Police reported Feley was also charged with two thefts that occurred in the 600 block of Elmwood. He was later released on bond.

Rims, Tires Stolen From Garage

A resident of the 1100 block of south Elmwood reported that between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., someone stole a set of four chrome rims and tires and a factory Chevy rim and tire from their garage. The estimated loss was $1,500.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 23

Criminal Trespass

Jeremiah L. Ollison, 23, of the 0-100 block of north Lockwood in Chicago, was charged with criminal trespassing at a retail store in the 400 block of north Harlem Avenue. He was previously warned not to return to the store. Ollison was held in lieu of bond.

Victim Robbed of iPhone in Scam

A Berwyn resident told police around 9:54 that after placing an ad on Craigslist offering a iPhone, he went to meet a potential buyer in the 900 block of south Oak Park Avenue.

While showing the phone to the potential buyer, a second man approached and grabbed the phone from the victim's hand. When the victim tried to pursue the phone snatcher, the potential buyer and a third man began hitting him, causing him to fall to the ground.

The three then fled east on Garfield. The estimated loss was $600.

Retail Theft Arrest

Phillip Hamilton, 42, of the 2900 block of west Armitage in Chicago, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft around 5:42 p.m. in a store in the 7000 block of Roosevelt. Police said Hamilton attempted to leave the store with 22 containers of baby formula worth $338. A name check found that Hamilton was also wanted on an open Cook County warrant for retail theft. He was held for a bond hearing. A security guard sustained minor scratches when attempted to stop him.

Retail Theft Arrest

Donald D. Hicks, 18, of the 200 block of south Marion in Oak Park was arrested after he was seen by a loss prevention officer attempting to leave a store in the 200 block of Lake Street with $42 worth of soup, condoms and post-it notes. Hicks was taken into custody and later released on bond.
