Tuesday Shooting Leaves 1 Hospitalized: Oak Park Police
Police responded to the report of gunshots around 12:30 p.m.
A Tuesday afternoon shooting Oak Park police are describing as “targeted” left one 20-year-old man hospitalized, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Around 12:30 p.m. Jan. 10, police responded to a report of gunshots in the 700 block of South Harvey Avenue, according to the Tribune. The victim, who hasn’t been named, had been shot in his left leg. He was immediately transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
David Powers, the village’s spokesperson, said the man’s injuries were non-life-threatening when the Oak Park Fire Department moved him to the hospital.

The Longfellow School, which is near the scene of the crime, was on a temporary soft lockdown before police determined the incident was targeted.
“The street was temporarily closed to traffic and nearby Longfellow School was placed on a soft lockdown for fewer than 15 minutes,” Powers told the Tribune. “The incident appears to have been targeted. No other details are available at this time.”
