Turano Proposes Multimillion Dollar Headquarters In Oak Park

The proposal would include Turano buying part of Scoville from Oak Park.

OAK PARK, IL — The Berwyn-based Turano Baking Co. is planning to move and expand its headquarters, but it isn't straying too far from its roots. The company recently proposed building a multimillion dollar facility to house its headquarters as part of its plan to relocate to Oak Park, Wednesday Journal reports.

Turano pitched the idea of building the two-story building in the 6500 block of Roosevelt Road to the village board on June 7. This part of the proposed $10 million project would include buying part of Scoville from the village.

Not all village officials are on board with the project as presented, Wednesday Journal reports. Some commissioners raised concerns about Turano's request to build an 8-foot tall security fence around the perimeter.

Turano countered by saying that security has been an issue at the Berwyn plant.

Another commissioner suggested using public art funds to help support the project.

These are issues Turano and the village hope to resolve at the next project meeting on July 5.
