OAK PARK, IL — Now that December is nearly over, temperatures have sharply plummeted and the wind chill is increasing to a biting cold. For many, Oak Park's warming centers can be a beacon during freezing and below freezing weather. In many cases, these centers can mean the difference between life and death.
The village offers several overnight and daytime options for residents who need shelter from the elements. These include:

Housing Forward, Various locations

Established in 1992, Housing Forward dedicates its services to help Cook County residents who do not have access to housing or have experienced a housing crisis. Housing Forward offers multiple shelter locations in the Oak Park area on a rotating schedule throughout the week. The centers are open from 7:30 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. Sept. 18 through May 14, 2018. Oak Park Township Senior Services, 130 S. Oak Park Ave.
Oak Park Township Senior Services provides warming centers for residents ages 60 and over from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. They can be reached at 708-383-8060.
Village Hall, 123 Madison St.
Residents can use the Oak Park Village Hall warming center on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 708-383-6400.
West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Ct.
West Suburban Medical Center's warming facility is open from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 pm. To reach them, call 708-383-6200.
