Woman Suing Oak Park Medical Center, Doctor for Severed Nerve During Surgery

The patient is suing three entities over her damaged peroneal nerve.

A woman is suing Oak Park Medical Center and a doctor there for accidentally severing her nerve during surgery, the Cook County Record reported Thursday.

The patient, Dosheer E. Tolbert-Smith, is suing doctor Thomas Bilko, the medical center in Oak Park and Associated Medical Centers of Illinois, Ltd. for negligence in medical care.

Tolbert-Smith alleged her peroneal nerve was cut during an unrelated surgery for a meniscal tear, according to the Record. She filed the complaint Nov. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court.
