1,130 Vaccinated Against Coronavirus In Kendall County

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — More than 1,100 people in Kendall County were fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by Wednesday, just one month after federal authorities approved the first vaccine. That represents about 0.88 percent of the county’s total population.

About 1,590 others in Kendall County have received the first dose of the vaccine, with 3,850 total doses administered in the county by Wednesday, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The speed of administering vaccines is quickly picking up in Kendall County, the state’s data shows. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered sat at about 274 people Tuesday, up from 230 on Sunday.

More than 27,000 people in Cook County (including Chicago) are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, but no one in Clark County had received both doses of the vaccine by Tuesday, public health data shows.

More than 390,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered statewide by Tuesday. About 41,000 doses were given to residents and staff at Illinois long-term-care facilities through a federal program run by CVS and Walgreens.

Almost all of those who received the vaccine are health care workers or residents of long-term-care facilities, who were prioritized under the first phase of the vaccine rollout.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Monday he expects to announce a timeline for Phase 1B later this week. About 3.2 million people will be eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine in Phase 1B, including Illinois residents 65 and older and front-line essential workers, as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the IDPH.
