Assistant Principal Hire Announced For Thompson Junior High

OSWEGO, IL — A new assistant principal has been appointed at Thompson Junior High School. Dr. LaTonya C. Davis will start July 1.

“It also excites me to meet new people and foster everlasting educational relationships and opportunities in a district that is continuing to thrive," Davis said in a news release. "I am anxious to meet and grow with the Thompson Junior High family and community so that together our mission and value of education can be tied and bonded to support our children.”

Approved by the Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education, Davis has a bachelor of arts and secondary education/English from Bradley University, as well as a master of arts in educational administration from Concordia University. She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Aurora University.

Before coming to Thompson Junior High, Davis most recently worked as dean of students at Larkin High School in Elgin. She started her career working as a seventh- and eighth grade math teacher and has also held positions as athletic director, project success teacher and project success teacher.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. LaTonya Davis as assistant principal at Thompson Junior High,” said Shannon Lueders, director of junior high education. “Dr. Davis has many years of experience as a dean of students and will contribute greatly to the Thompson administrative team."
