Christmas 2017: Oswego Holiday Weekend Guide

Pictures with Santa, sleigh rides, cookies, and a trip to the North Pole are included in this year's holiday guide.

OSWEGO, IL — Let's hear those sleigh bells jingalin' in Oswego. As the holiday season approaches its grand finale, there are still a few events to catch in Oswego and its surrounding areas, no matter what age! Take the kids to see Santa, or leave them at home to catch a late-night show. We'll keep adding to the list as new events crop up, so checking back frequently for updates.

Christmas Nightmare at the Massacre Haunted House: Did you miss your opportunity to go through a haunted house in October? This Montgomery haunt is giving you a second chance with its Christmas-themed adventure. The best part? No waiting outside. Events are limited to Dec. 22 and 23 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at 299 Montgomery Road in Montgomery. General admission is $25. For $10 more, you can get in sooner with a fast-pass. There's even a "buy three, get one free" deal. Massacre was awarded "Scariest In Illinois" in 2014 by the Chicago Tribune and 2014/2015 by Haunted Illinois.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Jr. High and High School teens can gather Dec. 22 at 6:30 for a screening of the holiday classic (PG-13) at the Oswego Library. Bring a beanbag chair or something comfy to sit on. Snacks will be provided. Advanced registration is required. For grown-ups, Two Brothers Roundhouse is also screening it. Letters to Santa: Through Dec. 22, kiddos can fill out special note cards and drop them into a mailbox that goes straight to the North Pole. Kids will receive a prize when they're done. Available at Oswego and Montgomery campuses of the Oswego Public Library.
