Country Band LOCASH To Headline Oswego's VetFest

The four-day event, taking place Aug. 26-29 at the Oswego Entertainment Venue, will raise funds for local charities that support veterans.

OSWEGO, IL — The minds behind country hits "I Know Somebody" and "One Big Country Song" are scheduled to headline this summer's VetFest, the village announced Tuesday.

Fans of the band will be able to "turn it up and sing along" with LOCASH Aug. 27 at the Oswego Entertainment Venue, 1010 Station Drive. The country band will be the inaugural performance at the new venue, the village said.

"We are excited to bring LOCASH to Oswego as part of VetFest 141," Kevin Fialko, the event's co-organizer, said in a statement. "We have a national act that wants to be a part of benefiting the veterans in our local community and bringing some fantastic country music for everyone to enjoy as well. It’s going to be a great event."

The band is one of the artists performing at VetFest 2021, set to take place Aug. 26-29. The event, a four-day concert series organized by the VetFest 141 Foundation, will raise money for local charities that focus on supporting veterans and Oswego School District 308. Veterans, current military personnel, first responders and frontline medical professionals get free admission to the event.

"Our veterans and first responders deserve this recognition, but also support throughout the year," Chris Skilnik, the event's co-organizer, said in a statement. "We are passionate about giving back to organizations that can provide support for our Veterans. This year, we’ve added front-line medical professionals to our list of heroes after all they have been through. We can’t thank you all enough for your service."

A Johnny Cash tribute band, The Man in Black, will headline Aug. 26, and Chicago-area rock band 7th Heaven will close out VetFest Aug. 29. A carnival will be at the fest throughout the four days as well.

Village officials said more music announcements will be made soon.

Oswego residents have first dibs on tickets by using the code "GoOswego" on VetFest's website. Concert-goers will also be able to purchase a meal or beverage for a veteran, first responder or frontline medical professional attending the event, according to a news release.

“The vision for the Oswego Entertainment Venue has always been to create a place for events that all of our community can enjoy,” Village President Troy Parlier said in a statement. “We are thrilled that VetFest is not only bringing such great entertainment with LOCASH, but also is hosting an event that donates proceeds to so many great local organizations.”

VetFest 141 proceeds will benefit Kendall County Veterans Assistance, the Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club and Oswego American Legion Post 675.
