District 308 Approves Amended Option B for Reboundary Plan
"I believe this is the best solution we could have come up with," Boundary Committee co-chair Lauri Doyle said.
OSWEGO, IL — After much debate and deliberation, the District 308 Board of Education has approved an amended option B for the district’s reboundary plans.
The board discussed the issue for around 50 minutes Monday night, before agreeing on option B, but with an amendment. The amendment states that students at Traughber and Thompson Junior High will be grandfathered in for two years.

- Incoming K-5 students will attend their home school based on Scenario ES boundaries.
- Current 5th graders will attend junior high based on Scenario 3B.
- IMPORTANT: If your child is a current 6th or 7th grader, he/she will remain at his/her current junior high for 7th and 8th grade. Transportation will continue to be provided based on district guidelines.
- Current 8th grade students will attend high school based on Scenario 3B.
- Parents/guardians of high school students have the option to submit an Attendance Transfer Request (ATR) if their student wishes to remain in his/her current high school. All ATRs for high school students related to Scenario 3B boundary changes will be approved; however, transportation will not be provided. If an ATR is not submitted, high school student attendance will be based on Scenario 3B.
- Any K-12 students who transfer/move into SD308 after the last day of the 2016-2017 school year will follow Scenario ES (elementary) or 3B (secondary).
- Any parent/guardian requesting that his/her child remain at the current school of attendance has the option to complete an Attendance Transfer Request Application by Feb. 1, 2017. For the ATR Application, Click here.
- Parents will be notified of the approval or denial of their Attendance Transfer Request (ATR) via U.S. mail by March 30, 2017.
- If approved, please note that transportation will not be provided by SD308.
- School assignments for all K-12 students who transfer into School District 308 after the last day of the 2016-17 school year will attend schools based on Scenario ES (elementary) or 3B (secondary).
Building administration are currently involved in planning for welcoming those students and staff impacted
by Scenarios ES (elementary) and 3B (secondary). Information regarding our online Address Locator tool will be available on our website by Dec. 20. The tool will enable families to confirm their attendance centers by entering their home address.

“I believe this is the best solution we could have come up with. It is a blend of satisfying the longer term needs of the community along with consideration for the needs of the current students,” she said. “While there will be disruption to some students, this option minimizes the number of students affected.”
