District 308 Ask Parents To Compete 5 Essentials Survey
"Your participation in...the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child's school and guide improvement," officials say.

OSWEGO, IL — School District 308 is asking parents for help with the state-mandated 5 Essentials survey. Designed to improve schools, the survey reliably measures changes in a school organization in five categories: effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environment and ambitious instruction, according to the survey's website.
Officials say the survey will provide administrators and teachers with individual reports and recommendations they can act on to improve the school. The survey will close on Feb. 15.
All of the district's schools are required to participate in a school learning conditions survey every year. The 5 Essentials survey is administered by UChicago Impact, a division of the University of Chicago's Urban Education Institute, on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. The cost is covered by the state.
