Downtown Oswego Restaurant Loses Out On Loan Request, For Now
After 13 months of talks with The Village of Oswego, Kendall County, and more, funding request not possible.

OSWEGO, IL — Plans for a proposed Oswego restaurant have hit a road block. A business loan that was supposed to be provided by Kendall County can no longer go through, according to an article from the Aurora Beacon-News. The county State's Attorney's Office recently told the Village of Oswego that money through the county's Revolving Loan Fund, used for development, is no longer available for such a project. A misunderstanding from the state about where funds from the county's Revolving Loan Fund can appropriately be distributed are causing further delays in the project.
The owners of the restaurant, Andrew Trasatt and John Leahy, also own Potter's Place and Jimmy's Grill in downtown Naperville. The Herald reports the men have been talking about a restaurant in downtown Oswego for over a year with city and county officials. The two-story, 3,500-square-foot restaurant has been planned for 63 Washington St.
Kendall County's Economic Development and Special Projects Coordinator Andrez Beltran told the Herald there's a lot of red tape to cut through, and they were hoping the loan would be easier. A representative from the Village of Oswego says they're working on other finance options for the restaurateurs.
