Flash Flood Warning: Barricades on Washington Street

The National Weather Service said residents should be alert for potentially life-threatening flash flooding.

OSWEGO, IL — Heavy rainfall on Sunday has led to a flash flood warning for southern Lake County, Will County, Kankakee County, DuPage County and Cook County, effective until 10:15 p.m. A flash flood warning is also in effect for Kendall and eastern McHenry counties until 10:30 p.m.

The Oswego Police Department said in an alert on social media that due to water on the roadway, barricades have gone up on Washington Street on the west side of Route 31.

As per the National Weather Service website, the Fox River at Montgomery, near Oswego, was recorded at 14.32 feet at 7 p.m. on Sunday, and flood stage is 13.5 feet.

The NWS said residents should be alert for potentially life-threatening flash flooding and avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas. Drivers should not enter flood waters.
