Safe Haven Dog Rescue is seeking loving foster homes THIS Saturday 8/31 for our Labor of Love Transport!
These dogs and puppies are in Tennessee and in desperate need of rescue. We would like to commit to bringing them here to Illinois, but we need committed foster homes first. Please take a moment to read about these hopeful dogs and puppies to see if you, or someone you know, would be interested in opening your home to foster. The only cost to you is that you just might fall in love!
Jenny, Blue, Keifer, Molly, and Trixie – This litter of puppies is 8-10 weeks old and look like so many different kinds of dogs, it’s hard to make a breed guess! Aussie? Hound? Chihuahua? Terrier? Let’s call them All American Mutts! Whatever they are, they sure are cute! They can be separated into groups for fostering.

Bear and Belle – Brother and sister about 5 months old. They appear to be Golden/Lab/Hound mix, or all-around Heinz 57! They are good with other dogs and humans and at a good age where training becomes easier. These beauties can be fostered together or separately.
Link – Is a BEAUTIFUL Brindle coated mixed breed male, about 5 months old. He is good with other dogs and humans. His sister already has a foster home and he would really love to pack his bags and move North on the same trip as her.

Star – Male Pit Mix about 2 years old and 55lbs. He is human and dog friendly and a bundle of energy! He loves to wrestle with other dogs, play chase, and run around like a silly boy! He will need a home that understands dogs with high energy that is willing to take him on walks, keep him busy, and continue his training. Sadly, he is heartworm positive and will need treatment, which Safe Haven will provide to give him a new lease on life
Barb and Betty – Beagle mix females, about 2 years old. These girls can be fostered separately. They are the perfect size and friendly as can be. They are typical Beagles, acting like clowns and loving life. Would you be willing to let one of them protect your yard from squirrels?
Livvy – Beautiful, female, Black and Tan Coonhound Mix, under 1 year old. She is dog friendly and loves humans. She is a sweetheart. She loves to be outdoors exploring and going for walks! She will follow her nose wherever she goes…and right now she is hoping that leads her to Illinois.
Hank-Male mix, approximately 2 years old and 50lbs. He has the most beautiful blue/gray coloring and soulful eyes. He is fun loving and can’t get enough attention. He will make a great addition to some lucky family.
Dara and Diego- Yes, we know it should be Dora and Diego, but there was already a Dora at the shelter. Either way, they are happy dogs that love to follow the map and explore! They are about 1 year old and between 45 and 50lbs. They are both such Happy Dogs! Probably because they were rescued from a road where they were dumped like litter. They know that people are not all bad and are now loved and cared for by the shelter volunteers until they find rescue.
Bubba -Male, maybe Heeler, maybe Pointer, maybe both and many more breeds! He is about 8 months old and 76lbs. This boy's only crime was growing up to be bigger than his owner thought he would be when he got him as a puppy. This is a beautiful dog and his photos do not do him justice! You should see his handsome, perked up ears! He is extremely sweet, loves to be pet, and is an eager learner.
Essie – Female, mixed breed, about 9 months old and 40lbs. This little sweetheart was found running free in the county and was never claimed by her family. She is absolutely precious...loves everyone and loves to play with other dogs.
Eliza – Female, mixed breed about 1 year old and 28lbs. This sweet little lady was found wandering in a rural area of Tennessee. She was covered in fleas and ticks and had recently had puppies. After only a couple of weeks, she is looking great and feeling good. She is sweet, dog friendly, wishing for a family to call her own.
ZayZay -male; pit mix; about 2 years old and 60lbs. Many of us have met Zay and CANNOT believe he is still at the shelter! He is so sweet, loves to give kisses, and will Army crawl to you and flop over for belly rubs. His pictures do not show how beautiful his brindle coat is. He is very gentle and walks nicely on a leash. Sadly, he is heart worm positive and will require treatment which Safe Haven will provide to give him a new lease on life.
Sunday – Female, about 1 year old and 40lbs. She arrived at the shelter on Saturday…so they named her Sunday…makes sense, right? This cutie doesn’t care wheat day of the week you call her…she just wants to come to Illinois and find her forever family.
Freckles – Male, about 10 weeks old, heeler mix. What more can we say…just LOOK at him!!!! You can’t get more adorable than this! Please consider opening your home to this baby boy!
