Harvey Road / Route 30 Intersection To Become Cul-De-Sac: IDoT
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Monday that Harvey Road would be permanently made into a cul-de-sac near IL-Route 30.

OSWEGO, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDoT) and Oswego Village Hall announced Monday that the intersection of Harvey Road and Route 30 has been permanently closed. Harvey Road will now be transitioned into a cul-de-sac at the location of the former intersection. Drivers along Route 30 can still access Harvey Road and other east Oswego areas via the intersection with Treasure Drive, where a new traffic signal has been installed.
"The signal includes equipment that senses and allows emergency vehicles through the intersection when emergency lights are enabled," a news release on the closure from Oswego Village Hall said.
The closure of the intersection is part of a larger project that began last summer, IDot Public Information Officer Maria Castaneda said. That project involves safety improvements along Route 30 through Oswego, as detailed in this IDOT project report. The Harvey Road / Route 30 intersection has a history of accidents, and it is hoped that its closure will make Route 30 safer for drivers, pedestrians and students of the nearby Oswego East High School.
