Kendall County Reports Over 1,100 Coronavirus Cases Over 10 Days

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Kendall County has not been immune to the recent surge of coronavirus cases, public data shows. Out of its total COVID-19 cases since March, 1,165 were reported by the Kendall County Health Department between Dec. 1-10.
As of Thursday, the county has a total of 7,160 cases with 3,258 in recovery. KCHD also reported two deaths, bringing the death toll to 57. No further information was provided regarding the deceased.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Kendall County has a positivity rate of 17.5 percent as of Friday and the number of weekly new cases per 100,000 people is at 499. The target for this metric is 50 or fewer. The availability of ICU beds in the county — which should be at least 20 percent — is currently at 15.8 percent.

Concerning trends are also visible in Region 2 where just 14.4 percent ICU beds are available, according to IDPH. The positivity rate in the region has continued to decrease but still remains over 12 percent.
