Kendall County Special Olympics Team Wins 19 Gold Medals

The Kendall County Comets Special Olympics team competed in Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing at the State Winter Games in Galena, IL

"The Kendall County Comets Special Olympics team competed in Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing at the State Winter Games in Galena, IL.

The team came away with 18 gold medals, 14 silver, 8 bronze and 14- 4th, 5th and 6th place ribbons. They will be joined by 13 teammates that won the gold medal in snowshoeing at the area games.

Participating in the State winter games were:

  • Snowshoers: April Papke, Austin Miller, Curtis Evans, Jennifer Michener, Kristin Chandler, Melanie Heneghan, Michael Wiskur, Richard LaCoco, Ryan Walsh, Samantha Parisi, Tim Pape and Zachary Hartmann.
  • The Cross Country Ski team includes: Anthony Prescott, Brandon Sanmann, Bret Wagner, Cody Brown, Cole Stamm, Jeremy Kuehn, Jack Hartmann, Julie Hilger (Julie is an alternate to the World Winter Special Olympic Team in Austria in March), Kaylee Bootz, Kiley Baker, Neal Pagel, Olivia Redman and Bob Armstrong.
