Kifowit To Host Property Tax Appeal Event

The event, which will take place at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Aurora Public Library--Eola Branch, aims to help local homeowners.

OSWEGO, IL—While property tax bills will be in mailboxes soon, one local lawmaker is looking to help constituents navigate the appeal process. At 6 p.m. May 16 at the Aurora Public Library—Eola Branch, 555 S. Eola Rd., the office of state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit hopes to host an event where people can get one-on-one assistance understanding and appealing their property tax bills.

The event is free and open to residents of Kane, DuPage, Kendall and Will counties.

“Skyrocketing property taxes are making it increasingly difficult for families to afford to stay in their own homes,” Kifowit said in a release. “As a member of the House Revenue Committee, I’m examining long-term solutions to burdensome property taxes and new ways the state can help homeowners save money. I’m also looking forward to this event with Assessor Dixon to provide a step-by-step overview of the assessment process and available exemptions.”
