Fire At Oswego Recycling Plant Causes 'Significant Dollar Loss'
The fire was reported at Groot Recycling & Waste Services.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego firefighters were battling a fire at a large recycling plant Friday afternoon, authorities told Patch. Firefighters were called to the scene at Groot Recycling & Waste Services in Arrowhead Industrial Park just after noon for what was reported as a small appliance fire. Though Groot has a mailing address in the 10000 block of Clow Creek Road in Plainfield, the area is in the Oswego Fire Protection District's jurisdiction.
An Aurora fire engine was also on the way to the scene as officials learned that the tenants were unable to contain the fire and were evacuating. The facility was fully evacuated, Oswego fire officials said.
As of early Friday evening, no injuries had been reported.
