Memorial Day 2018: What's Open, Closed In Oswego

OSWEGO, IL — Memorial Day is America's day to honor servicemen and women who have given their lives for their country. For many, it's also the unofficial start of summer — but since it's a national holiday, it's important to keep in mind that schools and government offices will be closed on that day.

Here's a roundup of what's closed (and what will be open) on Monday, May 28, plus a look at some local Memorial Day commemorations and events.

Open

Most businesses will be open, but it's not a bad idea to call ahead before heading out to a restaurant or shop. Some businesses will be offering discounts to veterans or active-duty military, so if you've served, bring your military ID with you.
