OSWEGO, IL — Rock 'n' roll country band Sojourn Rocs will be making a sojourn in Oswego July 17 for a free concert at the new Oswego Entertainment Venue, 1010 Station Drive.

Concert-goers can bring lawn chairs, outside food and non-alcoholic drinks to the event that will take place in the venue's parking lot beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Mattoon, Ill.-based band — complete with smooth vocals and their own mega-watt sound and light system —plays rock and country hits from the 1960s to today's hits.

"Their specialty is tight harmonies and great musicianship," the band's website said. "You’ll want to get up and dance when they play."

Aside from also performing their own pieces, Sojourn Rocs will also take advanced song requests for "must-have favorites," according to its website. They primarily play throughout Illinois but will also venture to perform in neighboring states.

Doors for the concert open at 5:30 p.m. A beer garden will also be available at the event, pending state approval, according to the village.
