Oswego Business Received Bomb Threat Thursday

The bomb threats, received via an email that also demands money, appear to be part of a nationwide scam.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Several bomb threats were reported across the Chicago area Thursday, including one in Oswego, according to local police. The threats, received via email, appear to be part of a nationwide scam demanding $20,000 in Bitcoin, according to CNN.

"Through further investigation it was learned that this same email has been sent to numerous businesses and institutions across the country," Oswego police said. "If you receive this email, you should follow your organization's procedures."

A bomb threat was also reported at the Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Detectives are investigating that threat and haven't released any additional details.
