Oswego School District Could Face $13 Million Deficit Next Year

The current deficit is $7.4 million, without changes it is projected to rise to $13 Million

School District 308 is has a $7.4 million budget deficit which could increase to a $13 million next year, according to Kendall County Now.

"Our village leaders and parents need to be aware what is occurring and what reductions must take place in order to balance our budget," Board President Matthew Bauman said at a board meeting last week. "And, together with the board, the district, and the community, we’re going to have to decide: Is it all going to be reductions, or is the option going to be to have an operating tax rate referendum?"

Dr. Lisa L. Smith, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, noted that district students have performed better than the state average over the past five years.
