Oswego Schools Implement Lockdowns After Phony Report

Three Oswego schools were told to shut their doors Monday while police investigated.

OSWEGO, IL — Nearby schools were put on lockout status as officers investigated a report of shots being fired at the 500 block of Secretariat Lane today around 11:40 a.m. Plank Junior High School, Churchill Elementary school and Brokaw Early Learning Center were ordered to lock their doors and not allow anyone into the buildings while officers investigated.

According to a press release from the Village of Oswego Police Department, the initial report was quickly determined to be unfounded. There was no danger to the school or surrounding community. The situation was cleared and school functions resumed as normal.
