Oswego & Yorkville Will Share A Facilities Manager

The facility manager's duties will be split, according to an intergovernmental agreement.

OSWEGO, IL — A facilities manager will split duties between the Village of Oswego and Yorkville. Yorkville City Administrator Bart Olson said neither community could justify paying for a full-time employee, so they’ve approved intergovernmental agreements to share the cost and hiring, according to the Aurora Beacon-News.

A job description from the Village of Oswego said the facilities manager will oversee the routine maintenance of municipal buildings and make long-range maintenance plans, as well as recommendations for improvements. The two municipalities have been sharing a purchasing manager since April, which has been a success, according to a memo from Oswego’s Assistant Village Administrator Christina Burns.

The partnership followed recommendations from a Lower Fox River Partnership Study. The original agreement was for Montgomery to join and each would pay a third of the cost, but Montgomery was “unable to join in the venture,” the memo said.

The Facilities Manager will work under the village of Oswego rules, and the proposed salary range is between $65,310.26 and $93,300.36. The Daily-Herald reported that the town expects to fill the position in early spring.
