Power Restored After Widespread Outage

Aurora, Oswego, Montgomery, Yorkville and parts of Plainfield experienced outages Wednesday afternoon.

OSWEGO, IL — The cause of Wednesday afternoon's widespread power outage, mostly in Kane and Kendall Counties, was from a downed power line. ComEd spokesperson Lydia Hall confirmed that power had been restored by 3:15 p.m., a half hour before the estimated time of restoration.

ComEd's Power Outage Map updates reports. The picture above reflects the outages as of 2:33 p.m. School District 308 announced around 2:40 that power has been restored across district buildings.

According to the map, by 3 p.m., 21,067 customers had been affected in Kendall County with an additional 7,272 in Kane County. A little over 200 lost power in DuPage County. Parts of Plainfield were affected, as well. Hall said they aren't sure where the power line went down, but crews are working on relaying that message.
