President's Day: What's Open And What's Closed

Monday is a federal holiday, which means a lot of offices are closed.

Monday, Feb. 20, is Presidents Day, the day set aside to celebrate the birthdays of the first and sixteenth presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

It is a federal holiday, which means all federal offices are closed. This includes the post office, so there will be no mail service on Monday.

State offices, including the Secretary of State and all driver services will be closed. Courts are closed as well.

The Oswego Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Most banks and financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.

Businesses may be open based on their own schedules. Call ahead to confirm.

Lincoln and Washington top a recent C-SPAN ranking of presidents by historians and other experts, based on the categories of public persuasion, crisis leadership, economic management, moral authority, international relations, administrative skills, relations with Congress, vision/setting an agenda, pursued equal justice for all, and performance within context of times.
