More than 20 teams are competing for an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington this spring to participate in the National Science Bowl.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego East High School will host the U.S. Department of Energy's annual Illinois Regional Middle School Science Bowl Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a news release.

The event challenges students who are passionate about science and engineering to show off their talents, according to its sponsor, Argonne National Laboratory. Students face off in a fast-paced trivia game featuring questions about biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and math.

More than 20 teams are participating, officials said, with the winners getting an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., this April to compete in the National Science Bowl.
