Aurora, IL - A new local robotics team Rounded Cube participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge 2020-21 season. A total of 119 teams across Illinois competed, 30 of which were invited to participate at the IL state level competition.

Over a period of seven months during the pandemic, the team thrived despite several challenges, picking up the 1st place Connect Award, the 3rd place Inspire Award, and two semi-finalist nominations for the Dean’s List Award at the League Championships, as well as an invitation to the state level competition. At the state level, the team won four additional awards: 1st place Promote Award, 1st place Design Award, Outstanding Rookie Award, and Walk Like Woodie Award for exhibiting Gracious Professionalism. Gracious Professionalism is a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process.
In addition to these team awards, one of the team members, Kyran Siddiqui, a sophomore from Oswego East High School, has been selected as a finalist for the Dean's List Award.
Team Rounded Cube would like to thank its sponsors FIRST IL Robotics, TE Connectivity, Bayer Fund, Chipman Design Architecture, Kauser Barkat from @properties, and the Wong Foundation for their generous support and encouragement.
Videos of the competition are now available on Rounded Cube’s YouTube channel. The team is inviting additional members for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. For additional information or sponsorship inquiries, please send an email to FTC18183@gmail.com
