Traffic Delays Expected Because Of Christmas Walk: Oswego Police

Oswego Police advise that the annual Christmas Walk - this Friday, Dec. 6 - is expected to cause traffic delays and congestion in the area.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego Police would like to remind the public to expect increased traffic congestion and delays in Oswego on Friday December 6th, 2019 due to the Christmas Walk activities. Motorists should expect delays in particular when travelling on US Route 34 through the downtown area between 5 and 9 p.m.

Delays on Madison Street and Washington Street near downtown are also expected. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes around these areas if they are not coming in for the
activities. There will be a large number of temporary no parking signs placed on the residential streets in the downtown area. These are only in effect for Friday 12/06/2019. By requirement of the special event permit, signage needs to be in place 24 hours in advance of the date/time it goes into effect. Signage will be limited to parking on one side of the street in most areas. For any questions, please call the Oswego Police Department at 630-551-7300.

Those planning to attend the Christmas Walk festivities are further advised that free trolley service will be available from Oswego High School on Route 71 (north lot -- football stadium side), to Symphony at The Tillers, to the corner of Main and Van Buren Streets. The trolleys will operate in a continuous loop from 3:45 to 9:30 p.m. Handicapped parking will also be available adjacent to the Christmas Walk at the Oswego Public Library on 32 Jefferson Street.
