Medicare Advantage Plans are HMO’s, PPO’s, and PFF’s. Visit the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St., to learn about the variety of plans available in our area, along with the ins and outs of items to consider when choosing a Medicare pathway. For individual help with Medicare, meet with a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselor. To RSVP for the class or make an appointment, call 630-554-5602.

Zoom Room

Wednesday, May 22, at 1 p.m.

Visit the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, to learn how to use Zoom and have a discussion with seniors at other senior centers through this technology. People will get the chance to enjoy the fun of meeting new friends in other places.

Technology Education

Computer Labs & Classes

The Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St., has open computer lab with one-on-one instruction for help on electronic devices or computer by appointment from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The computer lab is open May 2, 7, 9, 16, 23 and 30. A computer class this month will be offered at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, to address the top of “Learn How Useful YouTube Can Be.” Another computer class will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, to help people “Learn About the Windows 10 Spring Update”. If one needs help with a mobile device, appointments are offered on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The instructors are Gary Tollaksen and Bob LeClercq. Ask a Cop

Thursday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Kendall County Deputy Sheriff Wayne Dial would like to share some of his knowledge with the seniors at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, St. If anyone has any questions in regards to new and changing laws, or needs clarity on existing ones, this program provides a chance to be heard.

Caregiver Education Series:

Caregiver Burnout and Isolation

May 21, at 11 a.m.

The Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St., has developed a collaboration of caregivers/aging professional entities to deliver an on-going monthly education series to provide caregiver education and resources. This month’s topic discusses how caregiving can cause burnout and isolation. Learn ways to cope and why isolation can be a caregivers’ worst enemy. The program will be presented by Kendall County Health Department.

Painting with Coffee and Canvas

Wednesday, May 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This new club started this March at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, and has sprung new friendships! More are invited to enjoy painting and conversation. The class is ideal for the novice or experienced. This month’s project is “Cow”. The cost is $27.50 to cover instruction and supplies. Payment is due at registration. Ceramics

Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, has a large selection of greenware for ceramics class and a kiln on site. A suggested class donation is $1 plus the cost of the piece. Any senior age 60 or older can join anytime. For more information call 630-554-5602.

Groot Recycling

Where does Our Recycling Go—the Process & What Recycles?

Wednesday, May 22, at 11 a.m.

Groot will be discussing the best practices for customers for the recycling program at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St. Participants will learn what to recycle, why some things are no longer recyclable and the recycle markets current state. Everyone has a carbon footprint. Participants can learn how that effects the recycle market. Register by calling 630-554-5602.

Painting Party

Tuesday, May 21, at 1:30 p.m.

This month canvas painting at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, will be featuring a small watering can. Sign-up is required. A $20 fee is required to cover the cost of materials. Payment is required at registration.

SCAM AWARENESS DAY

Friday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Everyday people get duped by criminals and dishonest individuals. Visit the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St., to learn ways from a panel of experts how to keep oneself, loved ones and one’s property safe. Lunch is included. RSVP by June 5 by calling 630-554-5602.

I & M Canal Boat Tour And Lunch Night

Wednesday, June 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those interested can take part in the Oswego Senior Center group day tour for a journey back in time aboard the “Volunteer,” a 70-passenger, mule-pulled 1840’s replica canal boat, as it coasts up and down the Illinois & Michigan (I & M) Canal. The trip boards at LaSalle. Lunch is included with the tour and transportation. The cost is $53 per person. Payment must accompany reservation at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Oswego Senior Center Congregate Meal Program

The Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington, offers congregate lunch to seniors (age 60-plus) Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week at noon. A Bistro lunch is provided on Tuesday at noon. Reservations are required by calling 630-554-5602 by 10 a.m. the business day prior. A $5 donation is suggested.

Monday, May 20: Chicken Oreganato or Baked Stuffed Flounder, Rice Pilaf, Garden Veggie Medley, Wheat Dinner Rolls, and Birthday Cake.

Tuesday, May 21: Chili with Beans and Toppings: Cheese, Onion and Sour Cream, Broccoli Slaw, Corn Bread, and Bread Pudding.

Wednesday, May 22: Chicken Parmigiana, Pasta with Sauce, Italian Style Veggies, Italian Mix Salad, and Lemon Sorbet.

Thursday, May 23: Pork Chop, Scalloped Potatoes, Broccoli, Rolls, Baby Spinach Salad with Oranges, Tomatoes and Raspberry Dressing, and Lemon Bars.
