Woman, 27, Dies In Route 71 Car Crash: Police
Police said she lost control of her car and ended up in the oncoming lane, where her vehicle hit another car.
NEWARK, IL — A 27-year-old Aurora woman died Monday afternoon after she lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic and crashed into another vehicle on Route 71, police said.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was driving east on Route 71, east of Ottawa Road around 3:46 p.m. when she lost control of her car and began to turn sideways. Police said the Civic crossed into the westbound lanes and hit the passenger side of a 2013 Dodge Caravan driven by a 50-year-old woman from Mendota, according to police.
Police said the Civic ended up in a ditch on the north side of Route 71.

Police said the 27-year-old was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died from them. The driver of the Dodge Caravan was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Route 71 was closed to traffic for about three and a half hours while the crash was under investigation, which police said is currently ongoing.
