
COOK COUNTY, IL — A 43-year-old man is dead following a hit and run crash on Interstate 294 in Rosemont early Sunday, authorities said. A preliminary investigation shows a black Nissan Murano was heading south on I-294 in the far right lane when it was hit by a vehicle, which then left the scene. The impact caused the black Nissan to hit the center median wall, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene at 12:41 a.m. and took the driver of the Nissan, Michael Black, 43, of Chicago, to a local hospital. Black was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said, and was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.
A passenger in the car, Sherilyn Williams, 51, of Battle Creek, Michigan, was also taken to a local hospital. Her injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the Illinois State Police press release.
