American Legion To Host Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony

PALATINE, IL — Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Palatine Memorial Day parade and related events have been canceled for this year. In lieu of these traditional events, the American Legion Post 690 is preparing a Virtual Memorial Day video to be shared on the Legion’s Facebook page on Monday, May 25.

The video will involve a short service that was recorded in recent days at Hillside Cemetery near Smith and Colfax streets. The event, which will be closed to the public, will include a traditional gun salute to remember and honor members of the U.S. armed services "that paid the ultimate sacrifice," according to a news release from the village.
