Cooling Centers Open In Palatine Area As Heat Wave Continues
These cooling centers are available around the Palatine area.
PALATINE, IL — As temperatures soar into the 90s and humidity increases, cooling centers are available for Palatine residents. The area cooling centers and available times are as follows:
- Palatine Township: 721 S. Quentin Road — 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Monday); 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Tuesday through Friday); 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.;
- Elk Grove Village: 600 Landmeier Road — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Department of Human Services: 3501 Algonquin Road (4th floor), Rolling Meadows

Cook County’s Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security offers the following tips to help keep you safe as temperatures rise:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Try to stay in the shade or indoors as much as possible
- If working outside, take frequent breaks, preferably in an air-conditioned space
- Check on elderly neighbors and those with functional needs
- Take pets indoors and make sure they have plenty of water
- Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
