Cooling Centers In Palatine, Arlington Heights Area

Dangerous heat is expected across the area in the next several days, reports said.

PALATINE, IL — The Village of Palatine is warning residents to take precautions this week as the area will experience dangerous heat Thursday through Saturday, and possibly into Sunday. According to the Village, Governor JB Pritzker is carrying out his Keep Cool Illinois campaign by making more than 120 state facilities available as cooling centers to provide Illinoisans a place to stay cool and comfortable during the season's hot days.

Stay up to date with weather alerts and the Palatine area forecast, including updates on the Excessive Heat Watch until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tollway Oasis locations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Department of Human Services cooling centers are open during normal business hours from 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to the Village.

  • Palatine Township: 721 S. Quentin Road — 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Harper College (main campus): 1200 W. Algonquin Road — Open at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday; closed Sunday
  • Village of Barrington (train station/main): 201 S. Spring St. — 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays. If a heat wave occurs, 24 hour availability is possible.
  • Wheeling Township: 1616 N. Arlington Heights Road — 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Elk Grove Township: 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
