District 211 Plans Switch To Hybrid Learning By End Of October

PALATINE, IL — Township High School District 211 Superintendent Dr. Lisa Small announced in a Thursday letter to parents an anticipated start date for district schools to switch to a hybrid learning model. In the letter, Small explained that through this model, up to 50 percent of students would be back in the classroom as early as Oct. 26.

Parents were also asked to respond to two items in an online survey by Tuesday. The first item asks parents to declare their intent to keep their children in the remote model or to send their children to school for in-person on designated days. The second item requires permission from parents for students who have study hall/intervention period during the first or last period of a school day to come to school late or leave school early, instead of reporting to study hall/intervention period.

The family commitment survey applies to all children in the family for the entire semester and cannot be changed, according to Small.

The hybrid scenario calendar runs through Dec. 18, the end of the semester.

The survey was also sent in an effort to plan for space needs, necessary resources and account for health and safety factors as all students (remote or hybrid) "are eligible to participate in in-person athletics, activities and academic supports," according to Small.
