Eligible Palatine Residents Can Apply For COVID-19 Mortgage Help

Eligibility requirements to apply by Oct. 16 for the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Mortgage Assistance Program are detailed here.

PALATINE, IL — Palatine and suburban Cook County homeowners (income-eligible) who've experienced financial hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic and need help paying their mortgages can apply for the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Mortgage Assistance Program until 4 p.m. Friday, according to a news release. Designed for this group, homeowners are eligible for an amount up to three times their monthly mortgage payment, with consideration of the arrearage amount, according to a news release. The maximum amount of assistance for one family is $10,000.

According to the county, limited funding is available through the program, which is part of the Cook County Community Recovery Initiative funded by the federal CARES Act. According to the news release, it's therefore expected many people will apply, so unfortunately there is no guarantee of assistance. Once the application window has ended, eligible applicants will be selected randomly.
