Four Pets Saved From House Fire In Palatine

Four animals were rescued from a fire at a home on North Smith Street Tuesday morning, authorities said, according to the Daily Herald.

PALATINE, IL — Palatine firefighters rescued four animals from a house fire around 12 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of North Smith Street, the Palatine Fire Department said, according to the Daily Herald. Firefighters were called at 12:04 a.m. to a fire at the two-story, single-family home where they found fire showing from the side of the house, and a resident who escaped from the smoke-filled building, Palatine Fire Department Deputy Chief Patrick Gratzianna told the Daily Herald.

After searching the home to make sure no people were inside, a dog, cat and two birds were rescued when firefighters were told by the resident that the pets were still in there. According to the fire department, there were no injuries to the residents or firefighters, however four people were displaced due to smoke damage leaving the home uninhabitable. The fire is being investigated, the news source said.
