PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Fire Department would like to bring awareness to the annual safety campaign "Keep the Wreath Red," happening through New Year's Day, according to the Village of Palatine.

During this time, a wreath with red lights will hang above all five fire stations, and for every call the department receives that's holiday-related, one bulb will be changed to a white bulb.

According to the village, the fire department said they hope as everyone passes the wreaths that they consider potential fire safety issues in their home "and take the time to correct" those problems.
