Missing Palatine Woman's Body Identified By Family: Report
The body of Emily Truong, 21, remained unidentified in a Cook County Medical Examiner's facility for over a month, the news report said.

PALATINE, IL — Authorities said the body of a Palatine woman who was reported missing by family in late May has been identified by family members, according to the Daily Herald. Authorities said Monday that the body of 21-year-old Emily Truong remained unidentified in a Cook County Medical Examiner's facility for more than a month after her family first reported her missing on May 26, the Daily Herald said. However, according to the medical examiner's spokeswoman Natalia Derevyanny, Truong — identified at the time as Jane Doe — was found dead on May 23 on the far South Side of Chicago.
According to a news release from the Palatine Police Department, Truong was seen walking away from her home in the 200 block of West Johnson Street on May 21, and was carrying three bags of luggage. She said she was headed to the west side of Chicago and it is believed she used public transportation to get there, according to the news release.

According to Derevyanny, an autopsy determined Truong died from an accidental overdose of a mix of drugs, the news report said. A medical examiner's office staff member submitted the young woman's information to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database on June 29, and on July 7, a Palatine Police Department detective found the Jane Doe matching Truong's description on the database, Palatine police Deputy Chief William Nord told the Daily Herald.
