Palatine American Legion displays giant donated American flag
The American Legion Post 690 is displaying a 30' X 15' American flag that was donated by Palatine resident Ed Murnane.

The American Legion Post 690 is displaying a 30’ X 15’ American flag that was donated by Palatine resident Ed Murnane which was last used in the 1980 presidential election by Ronald Reagan at a fundraiser which 1,000 people attended in Bensenville.
The flag will be displayed in front of the American Legion behind the renovated canon through Monday, July 5th. “I’ve been a Palatine resident through most of my adult life, worked for the Daily Herald and worked in the White House with Reagan and then with President H. W. Bush,” said Murnane. “I’ve always thought of Palatine as home so I wanted to donate the flag to an organization in the community.”
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
The Palatine Chapter holds their monthly general meeting on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
