Palatine Boater Revived With Naloxone By Lake County Deputies

The man, 29, was taken into custody Saturday on the Chain O' Lakes, and charges are pending against him, the sheriff's office said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL – A 29-year-old Palatine man is expected to recover after Naloxone was used to revive him following a likely opioid overdose while boating on the Chain O' Lakes over the weekend, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The man, who was driving boat at the time, was taken into custody for "further investigation for operating under the influence," the sheriff's office said in a statement Saturday.

Deputies for the sheriff's marine unit were on patrol between Grass Lake and Lake Marie at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, when they observed a boat commit numerous violations, according to authorities. They eventually stopped the boat and took the driver into custody.

While being taken to the marine unit's processing facility, the man became unconscious and stopped breathing, the sheriff's office said. Deputies administered two doses of Naloxone, and the man regained consciousness and began to breathe normally again.
