The Palatine Jaycees are seeking high school seniors to apply for three $250 leadership scholarships.
"The Jaycees are a leadership training organization, and we want to reward high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities," said Jessie Levin, this year's scholarship chair. "Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education and reside in either 60067 or 60074 zip codes.”
The application can be found on the Palatine Jaycee website at www.palatinejaycees.org/scholarships, and if you need help or more information please reach out via email at scholarships@palatinejaycees.org or by calling 847-604-0288. The application deadline is May 16, 2021.

To apply, applicants must answer a few questions and provide short response answers about their leadership skills within the community or volunteer organizations. A committee of Jaycees will select the most outstanding applicants based on their accomplishments and contributions within their community. "We are always amazed at the accomplishments of some of these high school seniors and find selecting winner a difficult task," said Jessie Levin.
Offering scholarships to high school seniors is just one of the ways the Jaycees give back to the community. Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the chapter and community events, grants and scholarships. Included in these projects are the Fourth of July Hometown Fest, Christmas tree sales, Easter Egg Hunt, STEM Fair and other events that benefit the Palatine community.

“Unfortunately, due to the cancellation of Hometown fest in 2020 the chapter was forced to significantly reduce scholarship amounts in 2021. The Jaycees know every bit of financial assistance helps students and look forward to increasing funding for scholarships next year so long as we have a successful Hometown fest this summer despite scaling back the fest due to COVID-19 restrictions due to safety protocols,” said Levin.
The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees, one of 50 local chapters throughout Illinois, has over 100 members and is one of the largest chapters in Illinois. The Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community and have been recognized state-wide, nationally and internationally for their efforts.
The Palatine Chapter holds their monthly general meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights.
