Palatine Library Board Announces Interim Director

The Palantine Public Library District Board of Trustees announced their selection for Interim Director.

PALANTINE, IL - From the desk of the Palantine Public Library: Palatine Public Library District Board of Trustees announced on May 31, it has selected Melissa Gardner to serve as the Interim Library Director. The appointment begins June 16, following the departure of Director Anthony Auston, who announced his resignation in April.

Gardner was hired as Assistant Director of Public Services at Palatine Library in December 2014. She brings 20 years of library experience, including a total of eight years as Executive Director at Broadview (IL) Public Library District and Berkeley (IL) Public Library. Gardner was voted 2016 Illinois Library Association Board President-Elect, and will serve as President beginning July 2017.

The Board sought a candidate for Interim Director who was familiar with Palatine Library and would ensure continuity of library operations during the search for a new Director.
