Palatine Police Search For SUV In Hit And Run Of Bicyclist

Palatine police are looking for a white SUV witnesses said hit a bicyclist Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of W. Palatine Road,

PALATINE, IL — Palatine police are asking for the public's help in locating a white SUV witnesses said hit a bicyclist at 3 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of W. Palatine Road, before driving away.

According to a news release from the police department, a 70-year-old man was riding his bike eastbound to the right of the fog line in that area when, according to witnesses, a white SUV also headed eastbound, crossed the fog line, drove onto the shoulder of the road, and hit the bicyclist.

Officers and members of the Palatine Fire Department helped the bicyclist, who police said suffered serious head injuries. The Palatine Fire Department took the bicyclist to a local hospital where he's being treated for injuries, according to the news release.

According to police, the suspected SUV might have damage to its front passenger side, and was last seen heading eastbound on Palatine Road from Hickory Street. Witnesses said the SUV could be a make from the year 2000 or later, according to the news release, and there is no description of the driver.

Palatine police officers searched the neighborhood, and responding officers provided information on the SUV to several local agencies who also searched the area. Police added that at this time, there isn't any video of the incident available to police.
