Palatine Teen Seriously Injured After Falling Off Pontoon

The incident occurred on Lake Marie in Antioch Sunday afternoon.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A teen was seriously injured after he fell off a boat and was struck by the boat’s propeller. The incident occurred at about 12:42 p.m. on Sunday on Lake Marie in Antioch, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Police said a preliminary investigation shows an 18-year-old Palatine man was riding on the bow of a moving 2005 Premier Marine Pontoon Boat, outside of the area designated for passengers, when he fell off the pontoon.

His leg was struck by the pontoon’s propeller and he was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The pontoon’s operator, Yinxiang Wang, 45, of the 21300 block of West Windsor Drive In Kildeer, was cited for carless operation of a watercraft, for allegedly operating the boat while a passenger was in a non-designated passenger area.
