Palatine Trash Pickup Delayed A Day Because Of Blizzard

PALATINE, IL — The blizzard that has blown through Palatine and surrounding communities has closed schools and caused power outages. Now it's affecting village trash pickup.
All garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected by Groot a day later this week because of the weather, the village announced Monday. Trash and recycling should be put out at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the new day, and carts should not be left on the street.

As of 7:30 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service was reporting the following snow totals for the Palatine area:
- Northeast Palatine: 2.9 inches
- Elk Grove Village: 5.7 inches
- Schaumburg: 4.5 inches
