Palatine's 2020 Hometown Fest 4th Of July Celebration Canceled

Palatine's traditional Fourth of July events may be canceled, but there are other ways you can celebrate the holiday safely.

PALATINE, IL — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including Palatine. According to a news release, the Palatine Jaycees regret to announce the 2020 Hometown Fest 4th of July Celebration, including fireworks, carnival, parade and arts and crafts expo has been canceled. In the news release, the Palatine Jaycees attributed the cancellation of the annual tradition to the uncertain future of mass gatherings in light of the coronavirus, and that because a committee of volunteers has been working hard on planning the annual event since October, the decision didn't come lightly.

The chapter added that because Hometown Fest is their largest community fundraiser aimed at helping several community members and groups, they will have fundraisers coming up to help support these projects.
