Explosion Heard Around Northwest Suburbs Levels Long Grove Home

A Long Grove home is no more after an explosion Friday night in the Royal Melbourne development. The Chicago Tribune reports a woman who was inside the home escaped safely.

UPDATED: 6:10 a.m. Saturday, April 26:

A Long Grove home was leveled due to an explosion Friday night, the Chicago Tribune reports, and several other homes damaged nearby. 

The article states a woman was in the home at the time of a smaller, first blast, but evacuated before the structure exploded around 10:45 p.m. Friday. Parts of the home were reportedly propelled a half mile away.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but is believed to be natural gas related.

A representative from the Buffalo Grove Police Department told the Epoch Times that, "the house was no longer standing as it was."

There are no reports on injuries, as of publish time.

EARLIER-Friday, April 25:

News reports are still coming in, but an explosion was heard around 10:45 p.m. Friday night in Palatine and the surrounding suburbs. 

According to a news report from the Arlington Cardinal, there was a house explosion at 4773 Trenton Court in Long Grove near the Royal Melbourne Country Club

Countryside firefighters reportedly requested a second level box alarm.

WGN TV reported that it was apparently a natural gas explosion, and multiple north suburban fire departments are responding. Reports of any possible injuries were not available.
